Two or three drugs are administered during a lethal injection:
- Sodium Thiopental (Pentathal): a barbiturate that induces general anesthesia.
- Pancuronium Bromide: a paralyzing agent that stops the breathing.
- Potassium Chloride: a toxic agent that stops the heart.
